GIZ has been working with the East African Community for over 20 years across a broad range of programme initiatives. We worked with the EAC-GIZ team to create a Communications Strategy and brand identity to showcase the sectors of collaboration and implement wide ranging communications tools and channels to reach regional and international stakeholders. We wrote, built and launched a centralised website, created digital stories and an 11 episode interview series featuring experts discussing the impact of their work on regional integration and a series of other branded products highlighting the EAC-GIZ partnership. External communications focused on real people benefitting from the work on the ground, and showing the personal stories within high level policy efforts. Through workshops, in-house capacity building and trainings in social media, story writing and the importance of communications (Communications 101), and ongoing mentoring of key team members, we helped establish internal systems and a culture of communications.
