Support to trade and Regional Economic Integration (REI) has been a key element of German cooperation with African partners for several years. As such, support to regional and continental integration initiatives is a core pillar of German policy strategies such as the Marshall Plan with Africa of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). In this ongoing project we are working with the GIZ team to develop a series of success stories that will demonstrate the impacts and successes of REI across the individual regions and programs. Stories of personal and more general interest are key to communicating in this project. By interviewing key stakeholders and coordinating with the pan-African team on key messaging and audiences as well as channels, the stories will show a continent-wide picture of successes and impacts in regional integration and trade.
Outcomes
In "AfCFTA roll out – creating opportunities to engage, implementing systems," we look at the AfCTA (African Continental Free Trade Area) and how it created opportunities to boost regional trade across Africa.
In "Digitalising Trade Corridors and Transit Systems," we look at how REI policies helped speed up border crossings and processing times by digitalising the sharing of necessary information and certificates needed at different checkpoints.
In "Paving the way for life saving Pharmaceuticals across Africa," we look at especially urgent improvements REI policies made in the trade of Pharmaceuticals in the Sub-Saharan region.
In "Support to Small Scale Traders goes a long way," we look at the different ways REI policies helped small scale traders access new markets and the economic benefits that come from them in the practice of cross border business.
In "Ensuring the African Continental Free Trade Area is accessible, and beneficial, to all," we focus on one of the REI most successful and broad-reaching policies the AFcTA (African Continental Free Trade Area), and the different ways it helped promote economic opportunities in the region.OTHER PROJECTS
